The kimblehook jaw piece is a kind of pelham but has a milder effect and is ridden with one rein. The rider can determine the sharpness of the bit himself. The lower the rein is attached, the greater the leverage, the sharper the bit. This jaw piece offers the rider more control over the horse than a standard jaw piece. The kimblehook is not suitable for inexperienced riders.

The double-broken bit has two pivot points, is shaped more to the mouth, and is a bit looser in the mouth. This bit works on the tongue, the layers, and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws, the hinge points can then press on the layers, which can cause wounds. Compared to a single broken bit, this bit has more effect on the tongue. The Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a recognizable blue color.
